PROPHETIC SCHOOL Facilitated by Freedom House MinistryDownload and Print a Prophetic School brochure Download and Print a Prophetic School schedule handout Vision and Purpose for the Prophetic School The prophetic school has been a long-time vision and dream of John Sandford, and is only now (2005) being birthed some 30 years later, according to God's timing. The purpose of this school is to help re-establish the proper function of the office of the prophet, as well as the prophetic in general, and its place within the Church. An element unique to Elijah House's message is to reveal the importance of prophetic people being healed of their own woundedness, as this can negatively affect how they hear God and carry out His will. Much of what John teaches is drawn from his books such as The Elijah Task, Healing the Nations and Elijah Among Us. John's son, Mark Sandford, through his years of experience in healing ministry, has developed several topics that bring deeper insight to the common wounds found particularly in prophetic people and how to bring healing. This school is very helpful for pastors, Christian leaders or counselors that are pastoring, mentoring or caring for prophetic people. What Can I Expect From This Course? This school will help you discover Scriptural answers to many searching questions we all have about the prophetic call, life, ministry and office. You will learn what place the prophetic is to have in our churches and congregations. As a prophetic person, have you ever wondered why you think, feel, speak, and act the way you do? Have you ever wondered why things happen in your life and relationships the way they do, and why God allows certain things to happen? Jesus desires to bring you into wholeness through true change and he wants to break through strongholds in your life. He wants to equip you with greater vision and hope for your prophetic future…to take you into a deeper, more exciting and fulfilling love relationship with Him…and to prepare, empower, and release you into a fresh prophetic anointing to minister minister the Father's love to others. With each lesson, you will gain understanding, be given principles of the prophetic calling, the prophetic office and begin the healing and releasing process. Because we are dealing with the hearts of prophetic people, the school can, at times, be very intense. Personal responses to teaching and small group interaction may include, but certainly are not limited to... expressions of anger, prejudices and resentments; apprehension, anxiety, insomnia, depression, dissociation, etc. Because of time restraints and that your group is learning together, all of your personal life issues and prophetic issues will not be dealt with during the course of the school, but some healing and prophetic release will happen. Developing the prophetic gifts and entering into the prophetic office is a life long process. We simply give you the tools to further your healing, restore your relationships, and minister more prophetically to others. Many seek further ministry once the school is complete. If you feel there are already significant life issues that need to be addressed, prayer ministry or counseling prior to your enrollment in the school is advisable and always beneficial. History and Functions Part 1 - This school starts by taking a look at the prophetic office in history. In this lesson, we trace the history of the prophetic office from Old Testament times to its foundational role in establishing the Church. We look at different ways God continues to use His prophets today. Taught by John L. Sandford, 38 min. 2. History and Functions Part 2 - In this lesson, we learn how the prophetic role developed throughout history, gradually progressing from stern discipline to the foretelling of divine mercy and salvation. We see how God has revealed His character and purposes through the prophets, as well as the very important ways in which the authority of prophets, as well as the judgment of those who are in error, has changed in New Testament times. Taught by John L. Sandford, 77 min. 3. Functions of the Prophetic - In biblical times and today, prophets have many different functions. In this lesson, we will look at ways the prophet rescue, protect and guide nations, churches and individuals, noting that the character of Christ has become the foremost criterion for judging a true prophet. Taught by John L. Sandford, 59 min. 4. Call of the Prophetic - In this lesson, we will look at different ways prophets were called by God and see what it has meant in their lives. We will learn the difference between the office of the prophet and the gift of prophesy, as well as how to recognize the call in our own life. Taught by John L. Sandford, 41 min. 5. The Training of Prophets - The training of prophets is more than just academic. In this lesson, we look at the academic part of training, but also the character-building training that comes by crushing. Many have been through the “dark night of the soul” and/or the “dark night of the spirit” and have struggled to understand why God was crushing them. Taught by John L. Sandford, 53 min. 6. Reasons Why God Crushes -This lesson carries on from the one before, giving reasons why the dark night is a necessary season in the training of a prophet. Taught by John L. Sandford, 28 min. 7. Understanding Docetic Influence - In this lesson, we look at the two diametrically opposed world-views that have influenced all of us in Western society and culture, and explore their origins. In preparation for prophetic ministry, we will learn to the importance of ferreting out the ways that the docetic influence has infiltrated our hearts and minds. Taught by John L. Sandford, 55 min. 8. Hearing God from a Christian Paradigm - In this lesson, we look at a few points in which Christianity differs from other world religions. We learn ways some of their philosophies have crept into our own belief system, and what effect this can have on our lives and the life of the Church. Taught by Mark Sandford, 55 min. 9. Hindrances to the Prophetic part 1 - In this lesson, we will look at things that hinder the prophetic, both forces outside the prophet and blockages from within. We will learn from Scripture the history of what has always been the greatest hindrance, and uncover the truth about some widely held false beliefs about the prophetic. Taught by Mark Sandford, 79 min. 10. Hindrances to the Prophetic part 2 - In this lesson, we look at the kinds of spirits - and our own uncrucified character flaws - which hinder. We will see the necessity for knowledge of Scripture and sound doctrine, as well as the importance of being submitted to proper authority. Taught by John L. Sandford, 71 min. 11. Healing the Effects of Occult Involvement - In this lesson, we look at the many and widespread effects of occult involvement. We will examine Scripture to understand the causes, as well as how to pray for healing and hiding in God. Taught by Mark Sandford, 66 min. 12. Healing Prophetic People - In this lesson, we look at some of the common childhood woundings and relational difficulties most common to the prophetic child. We will look at the different ways certain personalities are affected by childhood wounding, and how it plays out in their ministry. Taught by Mark Sandford, 55 min. 13. Dreams and Visions - Have you ever had a dream or vision and wondered if it had significance? In this lesson, we will look at how God uses dreams and visions to speak to us. Taught by John L. Sandford, 59 min. 14. Dark Speech - In this lesson, we learn why God uses dark speech and what it does for the prophet (the giver of the word) as well as for the one receiving the word. We will also look at some common symbolisms. Taught by John L. Sandford, 36 min. 15. Prophetic Intercession - Here we will look at what intercession prayer is and what makes it different from other kinds of prayer. We will also look at how to pray prophetically for nations, and groups. Taught by John L. Sandford, 56 min. 16. Prophetic Warfare - In this lesson, we will learn the purposes of spiritual warfare and how to know when to enter the fight. We will learn some of the theological errors in our understanding of spiritual warfare. We will look at the situations where warfare is necessary and learn to recognize circumstances, which might wrongly or prematurely lure us into battle. Taught by John L. Sandford, 59 min. Prophetic School Class Schedule This school is held over 6 days. Sunday will have one video lecture and the other five days will have 3 video lectures each, with Question & Answer time, 2 small groups each day for discussion, prayer and some ministry activation. A continental breakfast is provided each morning. Lunch break is 1. 5 hours on your own, you may visit local restaurants or bring your own lunch. Dinners are also on your own each day, except dinner will be provided one time, on Wednesday at 6 pm, and lunch will be provided one time on Friday at about 1 pm. Celebration of the complication of this school, activations, anointing with oil and laying on of hands is scheduled for Friday afternoon, at the end of the last school-day.
